The Premier International Club in Asia

December, 2007

January, 2008

Welcome to Takanawa! The Club is now settling into the temporary facility and we hope that everyone is again making use of their old favorites. The Day Spa - a first for the Club - is on schedule for launch February 1.

We are committed to continuing to tailor the Club to best meet the needs of the Members. Now that the initial set up is complete and the Club is open, we have started making many small changes and the Member committees are actively providing feedback for improvements that need to be made. Among specific areas of focus are the creation of an outdoor play structure and refinements to sound insulation and the air heating/cooling systems.

The move proved a significant logistical challenge. As one example, the book cases from the Azabudai library were too large to be taken out through the second floor hallways and the library windows over the Genkan gallery had to be removed and the book cases lowered to the main floor using a ramp. The books themselves also took up close to 900 boxes that had to be packed, moved and unpacked and re-organized by hand. This is but one of the numerous tasks undertaken by the staff as part of the move during the Christmas and New Year holiday period.

As you are aware, the move to Takanawa is but a single step in the Club’s ongoing redevelopment and activity continues at Azabudai. Based in Member input, master design architect Pelli Clarke Pelli is finalizing the plans for the new Azabudai Club and in early spring clearing of the site will begin to create a greenfield to allow us to progress in our goal of becoming the Premier International Club in Asia.

In the meantime, please feel free to e-mail us your questions or comments at 2010feedback@tac-club.org.
