Green space is a treasure in Tokyo, and Takanawa boasts some of the nicest—perfect for a day with the family or just kicking back.
Set on the grounds of a feudal lord’s former residence, Ikedayama Park is a beautiful walking garden. Its simple, handsome bridges made from large slabs of rock cross the narrow points of a natural, spring-fed pond. Each season coaxes out the beauty of the park’s various trees and plants, like water lilies, violets and Japanese irises. Also in the area, Shinagawa Chuo Park is the largest inland park in the city, with space both for sports and relaxation. It has an exercise track, health equipment, fountains, flowerbeds and grassy hills.
You can also golf, bowl and play tennis just minutes from the Club at Takanawa. The Takanawa Golf Center has 14 practices boxes. At the Takanawa Tennis Center, tennis bums can play day or night on nine indoor, artificial turf courts. Just across from Shinagawa Station, the Shinagawa Prince Hotel offers an 80-lane Bowling Center.
For the young and the young at heart, a karaoke room, a game center with billiards, ping-pong and more, and the Dakko Room childcare center are within easy reach.
